What does researching your patch look like? Five planning rules we checked for a Bournemouth decking firm, and the page we built on each
DeckWorx builds decks and pergolas across Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch.
When we looked at the pages and listings that came up for decking in Bournemouth on 13 September 2026, they gave the towns covered, and some showed photos of finished work. None of what we read mentioned the local housing, the coast or a landmark.
So we researched the patch. We call it the Local Edge: the rules that decide whether a homeowner in that area can go ahead and build, checked against the council and government sources that set them. Each one now has a page a homeowner can read.
-
A deck more than 30cm off the ground needs planning permission at a house.
-
Once a house is split into flats, the deck rules for houses stop applying.
The house next door that was never converted keeps them.
-
In a conservation area, decking at the side of the house needs permission.
Christchurch Central is one of BCP Council's conservation areas.
-
In the garden of a listed building, no decking is allowed without an application.
-
Cutting a protected tree's roots needs the council's consent.
BCP Council says unauthorised pruning or felling of protected trees is a criminal offence.
These pages are new. They show the research behind the writing, and we make no claim yet about what they have earned.
What a plumber's Google profile looks like before and after.
Plumbing Brilliant, a gas engineer in Morecambe. The same listing, redrawn at the start and today.

Why we don't decorate this page with borrowed stats.
There's no shortage of agencies happy to put a "300% increase in leads" stat on their website. Most of them didn't measure it, a client they worked with once mentioned it, or they lifted it from a third-party study. We won't do that.
Stock testimonials with a stock headshot. BrightLocal stats quoted as proof of their own work. Case studies attributed to "a UK plumber" with no verifiable detail. Numbers that look specific enough to feel real… but can't be checked.
It's common. It's designed to reassure. And it's not honest proof… it's decoration.
We show the work itself, which means a tool you can run, pages you can open and blogs you can read. A result with a number goes on this page with the client's name, the measure and the period. The Google profile cards above are redrawn by us and say so: the before is an estimate of a typical starting point, the after uses the live figures.
If we can't show it, we say so plainly rather than fill the gap with something that isn't true.
The outcomes a trade can pay wages with.
Every ContentWorks engagement is measured against four outcomes. If the work doesn't move one of these, it doesn't belong in the plan.
Phone calls
Inbound calls from local customers looking for exactly what you do, tracked and tagged with where each one came from.
Enquiries
Form submissions, website messages and quote requests, all landing in one place so nothing slips through.
Reviews
New Google reviews from real customers, and the jobs behind them.
Booked jobs
Paid work on the calendar from a customer who found you and chose you. Everything in the framework points here.
Traffic, impressions and engagement are indicators at best, and in the wrong hands a way to hide the absence of results. A trade can't pay wages with impressions, so they don't go in a report as if they were outcomes.
Five pillars sit behind everything we build.
Calls, enquiries, reviews and booked jobs don't happen by accident. The framework works the right levers, in the right order, one after another. See exactly how OMNIlocal™ works →
