SEO for electricians, in short

What it is
SEO (search engine optimisation) is the work that puts your business in front of someone looking for an electrician. We run that and the rest of your marketing, in four parts:
  • Get found on Google and Google Maps, in directories, in local Facebook groups and on Nextdoor, with your registration on show and a check on what ChatGPT tells people about you (Facebook groups, Nextdoor and the ChatGPT check are Silver and above).
  • Catch missed calls with a backup that texts the caller back when you can't pick up, and follows up quotes that go quiet.
  • Keep past customers with a review request after each job, then check-ins and seasonal reminders (Silver and above).
  • Leave the running to us. Each week, a note of the quotes still waiting (and on Silver and above, a request for job photos). Each month, a report.
Who it's for
UK electrical businesses, from a sole trader to a full team: domestic work, rewires, consumer units, testing and EV chargers.
Who does the work
We do. Dan Jaques founded ContentWorks and owns the relationship with you. Frankie and her team handle the day-to-day work, with AI Employees doing the heavy lifting. AI-powered, human-led.
What you do
Pick up when you can, do the work and send us photos of it.
What it costs
£500 a month on Bronze, £950 on Silver, £1,500 on Gold, and from £2,000 on Platinum, which has a three-month minimum. A one-off Foundation Build comes first: £1,500 with a plan, £1,750 on its own. Bronze, Silver and Gold roll month to month on 30 days' notice. See pricing.
Our promise
If what your plan sets out isn't delivered in your first 90 days, our 90-Day Confidence Guarantee keeps us working on it at no extra cost until it is.
How to start
Take the free Visibility Scorecard. It's 18 questions about your Google presence, reviews, enquiries and social, and it ends with your score, your weakest area, and what ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity say about you today.
Why your phone goes quiet

There's a burning smell from a socket. Who do they ring?

They want someone qualified in the house, tonight. So they search, check who looks properly registered, read a couple of reviews and ring. If that's not you, you never knew the job existed. In a 2020 survey by IronmongeryDirect (research by The Leadership Factor, 500 UK tradespeople), 81% of UK electricians said they aren't sure how to use social media effectively for their business. Here's where the calls go.

Nothing shows you're qualified

Homeowners type "what is classed as a qualified electrician?" into Google. If your scheme registration and insurance aren't on your Google profile and your website, they ring someone whose are.

One page covering every job you do

An "electrical services" page gives Google little to match against a search for an EICR, a consumer unit swap or an EV charger. Each job you want more of needs a page of its own.

Missing calls while you're on a job

The power's off and your hands are in a consumer unit when it rings. Plenty won't leave a voicemail. They ring the next electrician on Google Maps instead.

Customers you never hear from again

You rewired their kitchen two years ago. When they want an EV charger or an outside socket, do they remember your name, or search for an electrician all over again?

Your work passes inspection. The next job depends on whether you're found, whether you catch the call, and whether past customers think of you first.

One team, not three freelancers

Long gone are the days of just hiring an SEO.

An SEO bloke, a social media freelancer and someone to set up your Google profile each do one piece, and you end up managing all three. Each piece on its own leaves gaps, and the gaps are where jobs go to someone else.

We do every piece and connect them. Google posts get you found. LeadFlow™, which texts back the calls you miss and follows up your quotes, set up and run by us, catches the caller you couldn't get to. A review that names the job helps win the next one, and a check-in from LeadFlow™ gives past customers a reason to ring again. One team runs the lot, asks you each week for job photos and tells you which quotes are still open.

Getting found, for an electrician

Three things homeowners search before they ring an electrician

Most electrical searches start with a worry: is it safe, will the paperwork pass, what will it cost. Good SEO for an electrician answers all three before they pick up the phone.

Is it safe?

The safety scare

Who's searching
A homeowner with a fault they can see or smell.
What they type
Are flickering lights a fire hazard? Why is my fuse box tripping even though everything is unplugged?
What decides it
Someone nearby who answers, looks qualified and has recent reviews for the same fault.
What we do
A finished Google Business Profile with the right categories and service areas, your registration shown on it, and a call button that works one-handed. If you miss the call, LeadFlow™ texts the caller back.
Will it pass?

The paperwork search

Who's searching
Someone selling a house, or a landlord. In England, private landlords must have the electrics inspected and tested at least every five years.
What they type
Is having an EICR a legal requirement? Can you sell a house with an old fuse box in the UK?
What decides it
A page that answers the question in plain words, then shows you can do the test.
What we do
A page for each certificate job you want more of, written around what sellers and landlords ask. On Gold and above, question pages that answer the rest.
What will it cost?

The price check

Who's searching
Someone planning a rewire, an EV charger or an extra socket.
What they type
How much does it cost to add an EV charger to your house? How much do electricians charge to add a socket?
What decides it
A straight answer from an electrician nearby, with proof the job has been done before.
What we do
Cost guides for your patch on Gold and above. On Silver and above, job photos turned into posts, and reviews that name the job.

The same homeowner often searches all three in one evening, so the plan covers each.

Before they ring

Six places a homeowner checks an electrician

Few people ring the first name they see. They check you in six places first, and we work on all of them.

Google Maps and your profile

Where the call gets decided when someone looks for an electrician nearby. A finished profile with the right categories, every job and every area you cover, and your registration on it.

Your reviews

Reviews that name the job, such as a consumer unit swap or an EV charger, and the town it was in settle the choice between electricians who look alike on the map.

Your website, job by job

A page for each job you want more of and each town in your patch, with your scheme registration, certificates and insurance where people look for them.

Directories and listings

The same name, address and phone number everywhere, from Apple Maps and Bing to Checkatrade and Yell, so Google treats you as one business and not three.

Facebook groups and Nextdoor

Where neighbours ask each other who to call. Your business is there, in your name, when they ask (Silver and above).

ChatGPT and other AI tools

Ask ChatGPT for an electrician and you get a short list of names. On Silver and above we check whether yours is on it, and what it says about you.

  1. Part one · Get found

Get found wherever your customers look

Homeowners look for an electrician on Google Maps, in local Facebook groups, on Nextdoor, in directories, and more and more by asking ChatGPT. We work on every one of those places (Facebook groups, Nextdoor and the ChatGPT check on Silver and above), keep your details matching across them, keep posting so you don't drop out of sight, and check what ChatGPT is telling people about you.

See the 18 things behind it
    • Your Google Business Profile set up properly, with the right categories and every area you cover, then health-checked each month
    • Four or more Google profile posts each month: offers, job highlights, seasonal tips and service reminders
    • Your name, address and phone number matching on every listing, including Apple Maps, Bing, Facebook and other local profiles
    • Your business hand-listed across the directories that matter, with the links that back the listings up
    • Service pages: one page per job, from consumer unit upgrades to EV charger installs, so Google has something to show a person searching for that job
    • Area pages: one per town in your patch, so a search for "electrician in Christchurch" has somewhere to land
    • The trust details on your website: your reviews, your scheme registration (NICEIC, NAPIT or another), your certificates and insurance, and your contact details, where people can see them
    • A website quality check, and fixes to what's holding it back
    • A new website, where you need one Quoted separately
    • Local blog posts each month that answer what your customers type, such as "why is my fuse box tripping even though everything is unplugged?"
    • Question pages and cost guides, like what an EICR or a rewire costs in your town Gold+
    • Posts on your Facebook page, regularly
    • Instagram as well, short scripts to film on your phone, and each blog turned into posts Silver+
    • LinkedIn posts, where it fits Optional extra
    • Your business present in local Facebook groups and on Nextdoor Silver+
    • What AI tools say about you. More people now ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity to recommend someone local, so we check their answers about you at the start and every quarter, old complaints and wrong details included, and hand you a list of fixes Silver+
    • Pages that correct what AI tools get wrong about you Gold+
    • Job photos made into posts for your Facebook, Instagram and Google profile, such as a tidy consumer unit swap, with the customer's review beside it where there is one Silver+

  2. Part two · Missed calls

Missed a call? LeadFlow™ is your backup, so nothing gets missed

Nobody expects you to answer with the power isolated and a consumer unit open. So we set LeadFlow™ up to text back any call you miss, and to send a follow-up when a quote has gone quiet. Those texts come from LeadFlow™ in your name, never from us. And every week we send you the quotes still waiting, so you know who's worth a ring.

See the 5 things behind it
    • We set up LeadFlow™ for you and show you how to use it. It keeps a simple list of everyone waiting on a quote
    • Tracked phone numbers so you know where calls come from, a text back to any call you miss, a voicemail greeting in your own voice, a 12-second ring time, and WhatsApp, texts, web chat and form enquiries in one inbox
    • An alert on your phone for each new enquiry, and a follow-up text when a quote goes quiet
    • A "Did these book?" tap on each enquiry that comes in, so you can see which became jobs. It sits on your WorksBoard™, one page with your calls, enquiries, reviews, Google Maps positions and the work we've done for you
    • A weekly check that it all works: each week we ring your number as a test, let it ring out, and check that LeadFlow™ logged the call and sent the missed-call text. If anything has stopped working, we fix it as soon as we find it
  3. Part three · Past customers

Keep your past customers, and they keep sending you work

Every customer cost you something to win, whether that was a Checkatrade fee, a Bark credit, a paid lead or your own marketing. Keep them, and they're the ones who ring you for the EV charger, the outside socket or the next inspection, and who tell the neighbours "I know a good electrician". You can't just do a job, price it up, go and do it, and forget about it.

On Silver and above, LeadFlow™ sends each customer a review request once the job's done, worded to draw out the detail the next customer wants to read. We write the replies to your Google reviews, and if a review raises a problem, we flag it to you so you can sort it. Check-in texts and seasonal reminders go out from LeadFlow™ to the past customers you hand us, set up by us and written in your voice.

See the 5 things behind it
    • A review request after every job, with QR codes and a push in the first week Silver+
    • Replies to your reviews, and your reviews looked after every week Silver+
    • Past-customer check-ins, sent by LeadFlow™ Silver+
    • Win-back and seasonal emails and texts Silver+
    • A plan of seasonal campaigns across the year: safety checks as the nights draw in, outdoor sockets and garden lighting in spring Silver+

See how finished jobs turn into reviews.

  4. Every week · We run it

And we run it for you

No five logins, no freelancer to chase. Every week we tell you which quotes are still open ("three are waiting, worth a ring"), and on Silver and above we ask for photos from your jobs. Every month there's a short report on your calls, enquiries and reviews (calls once your call tracking is live), plus a copy of everything we published.

Dan Jaques founded ContentWorks and owns the relationship with you. Frankie and her team look after the day-to-day, and AI Employees write your posts, pages and review replies, with our people checking the work and making the decisions.

See the 6 things behind it
    • Onboarding: access, a kickoff call and, on Silver and above, a recorded chat with us so everything sounds like you. Bronze gets a short brand brief.
    • A photo request every week, and the photos you send filed for you Silver+
    • The quotes still waiting, sent to you each week
    • Your calls, enquiries and reviews in a monthly report (calls once your call tracking is set up)
    • Where you sit on Google Maps against the electricians around you, tracked
    • A copy of everything we published, in a monthly pack Every plan

What you can hold us to

We speak sparky… so you never have to explain the job to us

Our framework was built around trades businesses. We know why a burning smell at 9pm and a landlord's EICR need different pages.

Your plan delivered in 90 days

If what your plan sets out isn't delivered within your first 90 days, our 90-Day Confidence Guarantee keeps us working on it at no extra cost until it is. What we won't do is promise a ranking or a number of calls by a date. Nobody honest can.

No tie-in, and you keep the lot

Bronze, Silver and Gold are month to month: no tie-in, no exit fee, 30 days' notice to leave, and everything we build belongs to you.

Pointed at the jobs you want

Tell us you'd rather fit EV chargers and consumer units than chase small call-outs, and the work follows. We build pages for the jobs you want more of and leave the rest alone.

Measured in calls and enquiries

Your WorksBoard™ shows the calls and enquiries the work brings in, and the reviews it earns.

Before you ask

What electricians ask before handing over their marketing

Four fair doubts, answered straight.

›"Lead sites already bring me jobs."

Keep them while they pay for themselves. A lead-site profile sits on their platform, under their rules. Your own pages, reviews and Google profile stay yours, and keep bringing calls in. Leads for electricians: what lead sites charge and leave out

›"I paid an agency before and got nothing."

Fair enough. So hold us to something: you see the calls, enquiries and reviews the work brings in, and our 90-Day Confidence Guarantee comes with every plan.

›"I've no time to write posts or chase reviews."

You don't need any. We write and publish the posts, and on Silver and above LeadFlow™ sends the review requests. You send job photos when you can.

›"I won't sign up for a year."

No need. Bronze, Silver and Gold are monthly. Give 30 days' notice to leave, and everything we built stays yours.

SEO for electricians… the honest answers

What electricians ask before someone else runs their marketing

Last reviewed October 2026.

How long does it take for an electrical business to appear on Google Maps?

Getting onto the map is the quick bit. Once Google verifies your Business Profile, you can show up. Climbing to the top for the streets you want takes longer, and it comes from fresh reviews, a finished profile and a website that supports it, which is why the profile work moves first. We won't name a date. Our 90-Day Confidence Guarantee covers delivering the work, not dates, and we'll show you the order it goes in.

Why is my electrical business not showing on Google?

Usually it comes down to a Business Profile nobody verified or finished, a website that never names the jobs and towns you cover, too few recent reviews, or a phone number or address that changes from one listing to another. The free Scorecard tells you which ones you have. For the map side, read our page on being invisible on Google Maps.

Is Checkatrade worth it for an electrician?

It can be, especially early on. Treat it as renting: your profile and its reviews sit on Checkatrade's site, under Checkatrade's rules. Pages and reviews on your own website and Google profile stay yours. Our page on leads for electricians sets out what the lead sites charge and what they leave out.

Do I need a separate page for each electrical job?

For the jobs you want more of, yes. A page about EV charger installation gives Google something clear to match to that search, and a page about EICRs can answer the seller's and the landlord's questions in full. One services page listing fifteen jobs gives Google far less to go on for each of them. Start with the three or four jobs that pay best and build out from there.

Does SEO for electricians cover ChatGPT and AI search?

Yes. ChatGPT and the other AI tools draw on much the same signals Google does: a clear page for each job, matching business details everywhere, and plenty of reviews. On Silver and above we check what ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity say about you at the start and then once a quarter. On Gold and above we also write pages that put right what they get wrong. More on getting your trade recommended by AI.

Will electricians be replaced by AI?

Not the work itself. A homeowner still needs a qualified person in the house to find the fault, fix it and certify it. What AI is changing is where people look for that person, because more of them now ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Perplexity who to call. The groundwork that gets you named there is the same work that gets you found on Google.

How do I promote my electrical business?

Start where homeowners already look. Finish your Google Business Profile, put your scheme registration where people can see it, ask every customer for a review and build a page for each job you want more of. Then keep it going with posts, local Facebook groups and Nextdoor, and make sure the calls you miss get a reply. SEO is one piece of that, which is why we run all of it rather than the website alone.

How much does SEO for electricians cost?

Bronze £500 a month, Silver £950, Gold £1,500, and Platinum from £2,000 with a three-month minimum. Before any plan comes a one-off Foundation Build: £1,500 alongside a plan, or £1,750 bought on its own. Every line is set out on /pricing.

Can I do SEO for my electrical business myself?

You can do the basics. Finish your Google Business Profile, ask every customer for a review, and write a page for each job you'd like more of. It needs time every week on top of the testing and the paperwork, so be honest with yourself about keeping it going. The free Scorecard shows where to begin, whichever way you go.

What do I have to do?

Pick up when you can, do the work and send us your photos. At the start there's a kickoff call and, on Silver and above, a recorded chat with us, so what we write sounds like you (Bronze gets a short brand brief), and you approve the texts your customers will receive. From then on we chase you each week, so none of it relies on your memory.
